A successful pilot is an important milestone – but it is not enough on its own. Before expanding, check the following four prerequisites:
Define clear responsibilities
Establish a steering committee (management, IT, nursing professionals) that coordinates ongoing operations, reviews feedback, and makes risk-related decisions.
Ensure a reliable data foundation
AI is only as good as the underlying data. Ensure that nursing documentation and vital signs are recorded in a structured and high-quality manner and transferred cleanly via standardized interfaces (APIs).
Ensure an open IT architecture
Avoid isolated stand-alone solutions. Prioritize interoperability, so the AI system integrates seamlessly into existing nursing documentation and staff scheduling systems.
Embed continuous training
One-off training is not enough. Build on-the-job support (training-on-the-job) and regular refresher courses into the annual plan.
